Super Cafe: It’s On!

Whats Up Nerds!

batman-v-superman-17
Over the past few days there have been some big Hollywood reveals including the super-amazing-incredible Star Wars Episode VII trailer and even Jurassic World. But alas, Warner Bros. had big plans of their own to unveil the Dawn of Justice trailer in a special IMAX screen just this past Monday, but then someone caught it on their cellphone and uploaded a crappy video online and BAM! the leak happened and the nerd world had a collective mehhhhhhhhh to it.

So, was the Batman vs Superman trailer really all that bad? No, not entirely. But it wasn’t good…especially when we all saw Han and Chewy and heard Luke narrating that trailer just hours before. Not gonna lie, I was having a HORRIBLE day up to that point and that completely changed it and I was grinning from ear to ear and talking about it to my wife for the rest of the night. Because I, like you I’d imagine, love Star Wars and also because it was awesome! Anyhow, after the leak Warners had to go ahead and throw their trailer online just like Marvel did with Age of Ultron after it was leaked back in the Fall of 2014. Dawn of Justice has a gritty and ominous feeling to it that one wouldn’t expect from Superman, but honestly it feels kind of right to me based on Man of Steel. Anyways the folks over at How it Should Have Ended have given us a pretty funny interaction between the caped crusader and everyones favorite boy scout about movie trailers that totally made me chuckle. Check it out…

End of day, I’m a big DC fan so I think that Dawn of Justice will be good and my many Marvel Fanboy Friends (cough, cough, C-Mart) simply will not until we see what happens. Still though, they could’ve given us DC Fanboys a little bit more to work with here!

Later Nerds!

Pulp Corner: The Maltese Falcon

The Maltese Falcon is generally considered to be the first true film noir with a widespread release and as far as I’m concerned it’s the best.

It doesn’t carry all the hallmarks of the genre but it set a lot of the guidelines of what was to come. Seeing it for the first time as a teenager it helped me connect a lot of dots and to this day holds a special place in my heart. It was the first time I was introduced to Humphrey Bogart, who is still my favorite golden age Hollywood actor. After seeing countless parodies growing up of the private detective visited by a deadly dame that was in distress it was great to finally see one of the movies where it originated from.

Pulp Corner: Top Ten Film Noir Movie Posters

Film noir has always been a world unto itself, a dark shadowy world full of cigarette smoke, booze and femme fatales. Its posters are no different. Unfortunately for us, hand drawn and painted movie posters are all but a lost art. It’s amazing the time and care that use to go into producing them. Each movie studio had their own distinct style when it came to advertising their films, which I hope comes across here.  I’ve attempted to round up 10 of the best and most visually appealing along with my personal favorites. It wasn’t easy to narrow down and a lot ended up being left on the cutting room floor. Which opens up room for a sequel post….

Mr. Batmom Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Tim Burton Batman Movies

Keaton is my Batman. Don’t get me wrong, the Christopher Nolan movies were all great but the two Tim Burton ones have a mystique that’s hard to deny, even though for a long time I tried.

The trailer for GODZILLA is finally here!!!

Hey Evil Geeks

godzilla
Just this afternoon Warner Bros. and Legendary Films dropped a giant kaiju on us in the form of the official Godzilla teaser trailer and you can see it right here! WB worked their butts off tho keep this thing under wraps and whenever an image leaked online of our angry green friend they put a stop and desist up to get it down, so it’s nice to be able to share the glory of Godzilla with the masses! Plus, check out this sick hi-res poster too…

Hell Yeah!

Hell Yeah!

Damn, this movie looks cool and the shroud of secrecy around it makes me even more excited to see it! Gozilla stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston and is directed by Gareth Edwards. The film is set to be released on May 16th, 2014! When you add this with X-Men, Captain America and the rest of the flicks coming up it’s sure to be one helluva summer at the movies!

Check out the trailer below and sound off in the comments to let us know what you think. The Evil Geeks have hung out with the folks from Legendary and their stuff is legit so make sure to check out Legendary.com for some cool extras and follow them on Facebook and Twitter for more updates!
