Pulp Corner: New Star Wars Pulp Art From Timothy Anderson

I’m a big fan of Timothy Anderson’s art. He gets the genre of pulp and in many cases mixes it up with things that wouldn’t traditionally fit the bill and in doing so creates some fun and exciting work. We’ve highlighted some of his art way back when we first started but he’s introduced three new Star Wars pieces that we’d be remised to not show you. One for each of the original trilogy.

The 12 Days of Geeks-Mas Day 7: Nerd Art

HELLO NERD WORLD

Gandalf-as-Santa-Claus

With the 7th day of Geeks-Mas upon us, it’s time to reflect on what makes a lot of us out there truly happy. Family, friends, the Back To The Future trilogy? Yes, but more importantly art. Bona fide, unabashed, glorious nerd art. The Evil Geeks are certainly no stranger to that realm and today we’d love to share with you our recommendations for that nerd art enthusiast in your life.

BIFF

With nerd art being one of my favorite things and with so many options it’s incredibly hard to limit my recommendations to only a few, but here goes.

Jeff Balke

Jeff is a colorist that gives other people’s work a whole new twist. I met him at NY Comic Con, and couldn’t resist picking up this incredible re-coloring of the classic Todd McFarlane’s Amazing Spider-Man #300 cover. You can check out his prints for sale and the rest of his work here.

Timothy Anderson

TAnderson-Yavin-Exclusive

Well, I’ve already praised Timothy Anderson’s pulp art. But I can’t say enough about his work. I keep anxiously awaiting the day when we see an Indiana Jones print by him. His online store is still growing, now with 25% more Hobbits!

Tom Kelly

You may remember some of the the very striking Kingpin/Daredevil silhouette or the Batman origin print that we posted about. That’s only the tip of the iceberg of Tom’s work. We hope to see more of his art in 2013. In the meantime you can stock up here.

Remember to come back tomorrow for The 12 Days of Geeks-Mas Day 8: Books

Seasons Greetings Nerds!

The Evil Geeks Win One

The Geeks have something new to adorn the walls of the Evil Lair. One of our favorite purveyors of nerd art, Timothy Anderson had a contest to give away his new print ad for Pee-wee’s beloved bike via twitter. We were the lucky recipents! We just wanted to say thanks to Timothy. If you’re interested in this awesomeness, you can pick it up here.

Nerd Art

This author likes a lot of different things, but high up on that list is Star Wars (and let’s be serious what self respecting Geek doesn’t like Star Wars?) and Westerns. Guess how I felt when I stumbled upon Timothy Anderson’s website and saw this gem:

After my shortness of breath went away I took a longer look around the site and was pleasantly surprised. Slightly lower down on my list of things that occupy more time in my life than it should is Film Noir/Pulp Novels. I think you’d agree that the inner Sci Fi nerd in anyone would rejoice at the sight of a Blade Runner or Alien pulp styled cover.

It’s striking to me in this day and age how much the artist “gets it”. Take some old school covers as an example.

I’ve got a lot to say about pulp art but I’ll save that for a future post. For now head over to Timothy Anderson’s site and check some of his amazing art prints for sale.
