What’s Killing My Social Life This Week – Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes

Metal Gear Solid V Logo

This game is not remarkably new. I’m obligated, and just a bit saddened, to admit by virtue of that fact that I am woefully out of touch with the world of video games. I can’t really use the excuse that I’m a grown-ass man, because I know many such men who still have their fingers pressed firmly upon the pulse of the video gaming world, but I lost my grip on it some time ago.

But there are still certain little corners on which I like to keep an eye. I buy Nintendo systems when they release new Zelda games for those systems, I anxiously await another Star Wars: Battlefront title.

And until recently, I maintained a dull, loveless marriage to the Metal Gear Solid series. I suppose it all started in my early years, when this advertisement showed up on the back of practically every Marvel comic.

Arthur Harkness Presents: Past Time Legends of The PS2

So recently I lost someone in my family that was very near and dear to me. After years of service, my Xbox 360 finally broke….again….and I simply do not have the desire to upgrade or get another one just yet. However, this has also opened up an opportunity for me to delve back in time and take care of some unfinished business. I shambled into my storage room, and dug through piles and piles of bullshit in search of my former best friend, and after minutes of frantic searching, I found him. Asleep, but still alive.

The PS2 is hands down one of my favorite systems of all time. The sheer library and diversity of games on that system was out of control, and it was near impossible to be bored or hard up for something to play. Your boy Arthur spent many days and nights in near servitude to this machine, and I have absolutely no regrets about it. I decided to go back through my library and play some things that either never got a chance to be completed, or things that I just simply loved too much. I will be excluding the Kingdom Hearts games from this however as you all already know of my love for said series, and I just like you guys enough to give you something new. Shall we? Of course we will, because you have no choice.

What’s Killing My Social Life This Week – Disney Infinity

iOS_Disney_Infinity_01

Greetings Geeks!

If you grew up in the 80’s like I did, you probably bought some games and were disappointed, because some of them sucked. How were you to know? It’s not like you could play a demo. Not too long ago gamers bought games at a risk. You won some, you lost some. Licensed games were even more of a risk. Flashy covers and a big brand name were all that was needed to sell a game back then. There was one license worth betting on and that was Disney. Disney offered so many titles that you were bound to stumble upon a good one. By the way, Ducktales is by far the undisputed champion.

Recently, Disney has come up with a new way to suck even more money out of you, and unlike many of its other properties, this is worth every penny. Disney INFINITY was released in August and has been in my home since September. Early sales have been good. The company release sales records over the two week launching period, which indicated roughly 300,000 starter packs sold. That’s really good considering what they were offering (MonstersUniversity, Cars, The Incredibles and the Lone Ranger).

Ep 017 – Worst Video Games… Ever!

Morning Nerds!

badgame

The thing about being a geek that everyone gets is that we like to praise the stuff that we really enjoy, but we love to totally rip apart the stuff we hate. It’s kind of a right of passage for all true geeks in my opinion! Anyway, this week Biff Tannen leads the geeks in a bashing of all those video games that we’ve always hated. You loved our “Best Of Nintendo” a few weeks back, so get ready to enjoy its Bizarro counterpart! So… sit back, relax and have a listen!
