Panel of the Day 2/13/15

There was a time, not too long ago, when your friendly neighborhood web-slinger Peter Parker was married to Mary Jane. Remember? They’ve been an item off and on for about 50 years now, but they finally tied the knot in Amazing Spider-Man Annual #21, and I’m sad to say that the following moment didn’t actually take place, it was just Spidey’s dream about his impending nuptials.

But it’s made me think that when I finally make an honest woman out of my girlfriend I want the Hobgoblin front and center at our ceremony. He doesn’t mince words, and I respect that in a man. Also, did Kraven bring the Lizard as his plus-one? I like to think so.

Panel of the Day 4/22/13

Today’s panel comes from the Dark Horse one-shot Buddy Cops. This zany police movie sendoff, as one might expect, stars a mismatched duo. But instead of the usual combinations ( a judo-master Vietnam veteran and a retiring family man, Dirty Harry and a stereotype, or Burt Reynolds and a kid) we’ve got an alcoholic screwup and an anal retentive robot.

When Uranus and T.A.Z.E.R. (hopefully you can guess which is which) finally have enough of one another at the end of act two, we’re treated to a fantastically depressing montage. It’s the text that does it more than anything, the idea that a comic can afford any soundtrack if it wants as long as the reader is willing. I don’t want to spoil this book, because I think that readers should go out and grab copies while they’re still available, but the following is the opening panel of the aforementioned montage.

Panel of the Day 4/10/13

Today’s panel is yanked from the pages of Marvel Two-In-One Annual #2. I was glancing through the pages of this issue without having read it, and this panel caught my eye. Thanos, true to form, is preparing to assemble the Infinity Gems and become a living god. It appears as if all is lost, but then Warlock (thought to have been killed by Thanos ) manifests from the Soul Gem and turns Thanos into stone. But that’s not what I saw at first glance.

I honestly thought that this being, whomever it may have been, was somehow tethered to the ground by a Wang-Anchor (or wangchor)

Panel(s) of the Day 3/7/13

Today’s featured panel comes from All-Star Superman #12. If you haven’t read this book by now, you deserve a bit of a spoiler… don’t worry, though. It’s nothing too earth-shattering.  At the end of issue 11, a temporarily super powered Lex Luthor shows up at the Daily Planet in the heart of metropolis and threatens the staff. Mild-mannered Clark Kent steps up to defend his colleagues, and while the staff of the Planet all assume that Superman was impersonating Clark Kent, a funny little idea crosses Luthor’s mind…
