It’s that time of year again, Evil Geeks. The air gets a little crisper. The days get a little shorter. The dead start to walk across our TV screens again. The Walking Dead came back this week in full force, kicking off what is already looking to be a crazy season 5. What’s the best way for a show that can at times slow down to a glacial pace in terms of storytelling? Why with 1 full hour of zombie killing action, big ass explosions, and a healthy dose of some sweet, sweet fan service!
I apologize to you all in advance for my lack of a presence these past couple weeks, but Arthur’s got himself some new employment, and time runs short for us all, but Lilith and the rest of the geeks have your backs. In the past couple weeks, due to said employment, I have ventured out into the world, and barring exposure to the sun, it’s not too bad. However, certain things have come to light for me, and it’s really setting me on edge. Yes, I am assuming it has been covered before, and yes, I know my take on it may not be completely acceptable, but deal with it. I am extremely tired of the term nerd, and it really needs to stop.
Here’s the thing, the term “nerd” used to be somewhat derogatory and it carried with it a stigma of either not being cool, or being some kind of asshole. It was wrong, and still is, but the thing that drives me nuts about it is the fact that now everyone wants to be considered a nerd. They think it’s cool, but in reality, most of the people coining that term now are assholes who years ago wouldn’t have been caught dead being referred to as a nerd. Ridiculous, right? Pardon me if I sound a bit bitter, but I sort of am. Google search the term “nerd” right now and see what comes up. Pocket protectors and a few rows down some hot chick wearing glasses…..that’s what we have now. Is this really what we have brought ourselves to? Read the rest of this entry
Here we find ourselves Evil Geeks, at the end of another season of our favorite zombie infestation! Last week we got a little bit of happiness in our sadness stew, so naturally we’re expecting a heaping scoop of sorrow in the season 4 finale of The Walking Dead. Will a newly reunited Glen and Maggie be torn apart by death? Would Tyreese decide that maybe he wasn’t as forgiving of Carol as he thought he was? Will Carl finally emo somebody to death! So many questions for such a small hour! Let’s get to it!
Well Evil Geeks, after an episode like last week’s, we definitely need a little bit of an emotional break. Being this late in the season though, of course The Walking Dead isn’t going to stop bombarding us with the feels, but luckily this week we get a happy ending as opposed to the whiskey bottle draining ending that we (and Lizzy of course) met last week. Seriously, sales of Prozac must have skyrocketed this week after that depression fest. Onward and upward zombie heads!
What’s up Evil Geeks. Normally I like to jazz up these intros to get you all hyped up to read about something you just watched within the past few hours, but damn this was a rough episode. Honestly though, we were due for a doozy like this episode, not much has happened this season aside from the survivors being scattered about. With everyone out in the open and on the run, there were bound to be some casualties, but WOW I wasn’t expecting the events of The Grove. Let’s get to the reviewing.
It is that time again Evil Geeks. That time when the freely roaming undead get nice and corralled, it’s Zombie Round Up time! Last week gave us a deep character study centered around Darryl and Beth. Each of them kind of hit their respective rock bottoms, then decided that the past was exactly that; in the past. After a quick spiritual dose of Redneck B Gone, each of them symbolically said good-bye to their old selves and embraced the new apocalypse-ready survivors that they’ve become. After focusing on only those two for the whole episode, you can’t help but wonder what about the rest of the scattered group? We haven’t seen some of them in a while, so it’s definitely time to check back in!
