Welcome back geeks, I don’t know about you but I’ve been melting out here in sunny California where a heat wave is already upon us. But all this sunshine means I get to enjoy the great outdoors a bit more than usual, especially more than if I was still living in the Northeast. And what is one of the amazing things we Californians have out here: redwoods. Trees can be pretty in their own right, but redwoods are just awe-inspiring. On a recent outing in to the woods near my place I realized some of these trees have a presence of their own. It’s like you can feel their spirit seeping out in to the air around it’s trunk, and that made me think about tree spirits in general, hence inspiring this post.
You all know how much Lilith admires Princess Mononoke. She was my Avatar after all, until the geeks gave me my own sweet comic book image. But Princess Mononoke was my first Miyazaki film, and it will forever hold a special part in my heart. While I love the imagery and creatures beyond believe, I admire Mononoke above all other characters in the movie. She and I are kindred wolf warriors and I am pleased to spotlight her on today’s Women’s History Month Warriors post.
Ok, ok, I admit it, I am not a huge anime fan. Never really have been, and probably never will be. But a couple years ago my friends introduced me to a movie that technically falls in to the category of anime, and since then I have indulged in many more films from this same amazing film director and animator. So today I put my suggestions in you to investigate and enjoy any film made by this amazing man: Hayao Miyazaki.
