I have to be honest, you guys. Please don’t judge me for saying this too soon or for saying it at all, but Athelstan dying has been the best thing to happen to this show since his crucifixion last season. Trust me, I have valid reasoning behind this, which we will get to shortly. However, let’s start off with something a bit less morbid…..RAIDING!!
Sometimes, you really just don’t want to go home. I’m sure Ragnar feels that way right now. Welcome back my Norsemen and Norsewomen, we have quite the doozy for you all this week. I know I griped a little bit in the last column concerning this season, but I must say the last two episodes were way better than I anticipated. I am a huge fan of the raiding aspect of the show, but I am not opposed to character development, and we got quite a bit of it. So let’s dive right in, shall we?
I apologize in advance for having to do these two by two and in such late fashion, but since the world is a cruel place and seldom leaves me opportunities to see things on time, it is something we will have to live with. That out of the way, let’s get to what we all really want…the goddamn bloodshed.
Lay your weapons beside me, and let me tell you a tale of glory and bloodshed….
Welcome back all of my fine Pagan brethren to another season of the Vikings. You may have noticed that I am combining the first two episodes into one review, as it has been a couple weeks of near blackout nights for your boy, Arthur. Anyways, if you have been keeping up with the series from the beginning, then you guys are all pretty much aware of what has been happening with Ragnar and our crew. If not, you may want to go peruse my write-ups of the last couple seasons. With that out of the way, let’s jump into it.
Welcome all of you bloodletters to the finale of this year’s season of the Vikings. It’s been quite the ride, and we’ve seen lots of blood, betrayal, and good old fashioned raiding. This season upped the ante in a serious way, and I was pretty pumped to see the finale and what they would bring us after such a brutal season. Now you may notice that this one is not going to be in the usual format of this season’s recaps, as I wound up watching the finale with a friend.
Welcome back raiders to another edition of The Vikings. I am your host, Arthur Harkness, and I’ve been sharpening my writing utensils in preparation for this week’s episode. We finally have the return of our merry band of Vikings to the home of King Ecbert, and after Horik’s son went all fucking bloodlusty on us last week, I’m excited to see what sort of call back Ecbert is going to order considering what happened, as I’m sure it isn’t going to be a request for tea. So strap in, and let’s get to the murdering.
