Alexander Iaccarino’s Movie Poster Art
I think it’s fairly obvious by now that I have a bit of a preoccupation with art. One of my favorite genres though is the classic movie poster, it’s something that sadly has been disappearing over the last 20 years. Everything now seems to use the real actors either straight on or photoshopped and arranged. I miss the days of thoughtful composition that enticed the viewers imagination. Freelance artist Alexander Iaccarino is bringing them back one movie at a time.
Cover Of The Day 2/24/15
Our cover of the day is an excellent variant for All New X-Men #36 by the artist Jock. It’s a slam dunk for me using two of my (and everyone else’s) favorites Rocket Raccoon and Groot and paying homage to the classic 1983 Paul Smith Uncanny X-Men #173 cover.

Evil Geek Book Report – Rocket Raccoon & Groot Steal The Galaxy!
Riding the high of the Guardians Of The Galaxy movie, I wanted more. While waiting 2 months for Amazon to fulfill their backorders of the Abnett & Lanning Complete Collection of Guardians, I turned my attention to a novel.
Dan Abnett wrote, “Rocket Raccoon & Groot Steal The Galaxy!” Marvel’s first original prose novel which was released a few weeks ahead of the movie. At the time when I bought it, I couldn’t find too many reviews on it, so I figured what did I have to lose?
Watch the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer NOW!!!
Mornin’ Evil Geeks!
Last night Jimmy Kimmel gave fanboys around the world a treat with the first full-length trailer for Marvel’s newest sci-fi cosmic flick “Guardians of the Galaxy!” There’s been tons of speculation around not only the Evil Lair, but the entire internet about this movie and many people think that Marvel is really betting on a longshot with this one here, but I gotta say after seeing the trailer I’m definitely excited!!! Check it out here…
So, I totally buy Chris Pratt as Starlord and from what you see the comedy doesn’t seem forced. Although I thought that Batista from WWE would suck, he looks like a good Drax at least and I’ve always thought that Zoe Saldana could work as Gamora. Groot seems like Groot and Vin Diesel can’t really screw up the lines since all he says is “I am GROOT.” Add to that the simple fact that Rocket Raccoon is the man, er uh, mammal (played by Bradley Cooper) and you’ve got a decent team of slackers who just might get the job done!!! Also, Karen Gillan (of Amy Pond fame) looks badass as Nebula too. The only thing that I wish is that we got a better look at Ronan the Accuser who will be played by Lee Pace, but the Nova Corps made up for it. (Calling in the last scene that Nova makes his debut btw!)
All in all, it looks fun and action packed which works for me, so kudos to Marvel for taking a gamble in this franchise, which looks to me will set up their cosmic side of the house and eventually get us to the Infinity Gems. (But in case this sucks, they’ll be raking in the dough from Cap 2, Spidey 2, and X-Men I forget what number their on, so don’t feel too bad for them…just kidding, this’ll be good!) After you check out the trailer make sure to sound off in the comments to let us know what you think. Guardians of the Galaxy opens worldwide on August 1st, 2014.
See ya at the Movies!
