What’s Appening?! – Animal Crossing Pocket Camp

I never really care about any gaming news, but I will admit that I actually watched the Nintendo Direct on Day 1 of E3 specifically because I needed to hear some sweet, sweet Animal Crossing news. I’ve recently become completely addicted to Animal Crossing: New Leaf (my house is almost fully expanded, thank you very much – and I only owe Tom Nook both kidneys and my first born male! What a steal!) and while it’s very fun and adorable, but at some point, I know I’m going to climb as high as I can go in the illustrious town of “Kawaii”. (Yes, that’s my town’s name, and the town song just so happens to be “Spooky Scary Skeletons, too!) So, to prevent myself from burning out on the franchise before April 2020, I’ve decided to switch up my Animal Crossing games.

The Rumour Come Out. Does Varus Riot is Gay??

Twas few nights before Christmas (25 to be clear)
When the dev peeps of Riot, made something quite dear
Through the vid to the comics, their message was clear
In the year which we live in, Varus was queer;

Well not quite, for you see, in his new shiny Lore
It is now clearly stated that he’s two people more
Kai and his Valmar, those be the gays
Who then merged with the Darkin, through mysterious ways

To be fair, we can’t know
Of the Darkin’s own heart
For perhaps he too also
Likes his men tall and smart

(Or at least)
(Those he won’t tear apart)

So rejoice on this day!
When a step forth was made
For the game and the people
Who have long since League played

We hold hope that in future
They’ll be adding more queer
But for now we’ll be merry
And sing gaily with cheer

What’s Killing My Social Life This Week – RWBY: Grimm Eclispe

{WARNING: MINOR RWBY SPOILERS AHEAD }

  It’s incredible to see what a fandom can really do to a person. You’d be milling around minding your own business, reading, listening to music, or watching a show and for a brief moment you would be fine. It would start slowly at first, masquerading as the tiniest hint of curiosity, a growing hunger to find out more about the thing you like. Questions will begin to pop-up inside your head and soon after, your search history. Who are the creators of the thing I like? What are their interests? What is their Twitter and Tumblr url? Can I meet them and how? W̧̕҉H̴͞E̷͜͠R͏E ͠DO̧ ̀T͟͠Ḩ̵E҉͏́Y̵͘͘ ̷̀͘L̵͡IV́E?͢͢ Are there other people who like the thing I like? Where can I find and talk to them? Where can I see their fanart. W͡H͏E҉R̡Ȩ ̛CAN̡ I S̵E͢E ̡TH̢ȨIR F͘IC͟? It is at that moment that you are lost, you are a fan. Surrender your emotions along with all hope of ever getting out. Make sure you strap in, the feels train will be departing soon. If you can’t find sturdy enough safety belts, then just cling to whatever other object you can find and smile as the turbulence tears your fragile body apart. Take comfort in knowing that you are not alone for this ride and that your gruesome death will be regarded with awe and/or embarrassment by future generations. Sew your limbs back on with the aid of an ungodly amount of hand-made clothing. Sometimes cosplaying can mend the wounds that fic and art cannot. Upload fan videos, ships, theories smut and whatever else you can contribute to the fandom. Above all, always remember to respect your fellow trash.

What’s Killing My Social Life This Week – Dragon Age: Origins

Do you like games? Do you like games with dragons in them? Do you like playing said games? Imagine a game such as that and try to picture yourself playing it. Are you doing it? Are you? Good. Now stare at a wall for three weeks whilst thinking intently what that game would be like and you don’t have to play Dragon Age: Origins.

Female objectification in games -League of Sexism- a rant

{Warning: the author of this post is by no means slut-shaming and is perfectly fine with people wearing skimpy outfits if they so desire. However, as the characters mentioned below are designed by other people (with a nefarious agenda in mind) they do not have agency over their own clothing and haven’t been described as such. Again, not slut-shaming.}

If you’ve been around on the internet for the past few years, then you’ve probably come across a free-to-play, MOBA game called League of Legends. Chances are you’ve downloaded it and have stumbled upon the glistening mannequins it has opted for in place of female characters, proceeding to puke your eyes out from the horror of it all. Now, quick disclaimer to any Leaguers out there, your game is horribly and sickeningly sexist and no amount of denial/stunning ignorance can disguise that. It might not be the only one out there and there are worse offenders, but it’s a good place to start. Actually, the staggering level of sexism on display is not my only issue with the game, what with there being next to zero representation available –queer or otherwise- but I digress (seriously though, there’s like 3 (5, possibly 6) people of colour in it. What the hell Riot?) You see, in LoL female characters’ bodies do not let themselves be hindered by the restricting laws of physics and/or anatomy. In fact, those rebellious sacks of over-sexualized flesh do all that’s in their metaphysical power to go against the very fabric of reality; from painfully-narrow waists, inhumanly slender figures and unnatural swivel-spines to abnormally large breasts, contorted torsos and presumably boneless extremities, LoL captures exactly what’s wrong with how women are portrayed in the gaming industry. One of the many things this game does wrong is, as usual, the amount of armor any female character is allowed to wear. Case in point, let’s have a look at Morgana’s current splash art.
