You may recall a few months ago we did a podcast about my honeymoon trip to the nerd mecha of Tokyo. It was an amazing experience and I couldn’t wait to to share some of the things I saw there with everyone. It was a perfect combination of the amazing and bizarre. Take a peek below at some of the geek culture highlights of the trip.
You can see Part 2 here.
Hey there, Evil Geeks…. although I guess this time out it might be more accurate to say “Eh there, Evil Geeks”. Have you ever found yourself watching one of your favorite TV shows, only to find yourself wondering where the show was actually shot? The cities you see week in and week out on your television look SUPER familiar, but for some reason you can’t figure out exactly where the actors are. It looks like your average American city, but it’s too urban and compact to be Los Angeles. It doesn’t have the wholesome Midwestern feel of Chicago. It’s too clean to be New York. Atlanta? Nope, not enough strippers. Dallas? Not enough pick up trucks with gun racks on the road. The deja vu sweeps over you as you know you’ve seen this place before. We’re you dragged there on vacation as a kid? Were you forced to visit an aged aunt there at some point? Stuck for a few hours on a layover? You’ve seen it before, but WHERE!?!?!?! Well thanks to our friends over at Fortress Geek, you’re days of befuddlement are over! You’ve definitely seen that city somewhere before and chances are it was on TV. What could this magical, holy land of TV production possibly be? Chances are, it’s Vancouver, British Columbia!
May the call of battle never cease to bring you forward unto glory. I just made that shit up guys, off the fly and it may be your new morning mantra. Welcome back everyone to the second edition of the newest way to smash in your own face. I, as always, am Arthur Harkness and I am proud to bring to you another moment in my never ending war against the radio proper. Most people know that I simply cannot handle what the radio tends to throw at us on a daily basis, which is the same four to five songs on the hour every hour. It honestly makes me want to cut out my own eyes and jam spikes into my ears. I know that may sound a bit harsh, but honestly, I cannot think of any other solution besides not listening to it at all, which is even more difficult considering it permeates most of life nowadays. It just drives me crazy that most things that are out there nowadays is hot water trash produced by garbage people. Sorry if that offends you, but its true. I can deal with classic rock, but why do we have to play Freedbird a hundred times a day?
There is a bevy of different bands out there and we stick to the same few over and over. It’s rather unfortunate. So it is my new civic duty and my way to give back to the community by attempting to bring some new stuff to your ears. I did it last week with Battlecross, and although these guys have been around for a while, I would like to give them a more proper introduction. Shield Maidens and Vikings, I give to you one of my all time favorites, Amon Amarth, and the reason why I do not fear driving in wintry conditions anymore…..for the most part. Now obviously you guys know already that this is going to involve my metalro life mate in Piano Wire Freddy, so you better get used to the mention of him as I do not go to metal shows without him, and considering our greatest metal adventure involved Amon Amarth and a blizzard, it would be in poor form not to include him. So let’s do this…
Greetings Evil Geekdom! As we get geared up for the 2013 NY Comic Con, we’re bringing you all kinds of helpful tips that we’ve accumulated over years and years of con attendance. This spot originally ran last year ahead of the 2012 NYCC, but the information is still relevant (although I think it may be time to overhaul the costumes uses in this game), so we’re bringing it back to you. See you guys in New York!!!
Hey now, Evil Geeks! If you want to check out a panel or maybe get an autograph from a special guest, it’s inevitable that you’re going to be spending some time waiting in a line which can get a little boring after a while. While waiting in line before the Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes “Jay & Silent Bob Get Old” podcast last year, we members of the Brotherhood came up with a great idea to kill some time while waiting in line: The Comic Con Cosplay Drinking Game! Of course, gameplay doesn’t have to be limited to line waiting situations, you can play anywhere in the con at any time. Disclaimer: I’m pretty sure the people running the show at the Javitz would frown upon we fine upstanding citizens, imbibing in demon juice during the con, so be sure to keep it on the down-low. Also, remember to drink responsibly, because with great alcoholic power, comes even greater gin-fueled responsibility. I really can’t stress the importance of responsibility when you’re getting mind-numbingly smashed.
Getting ready for a big summer trip? Or perhaps you’d like to commemorate a previous vacation. Artist, Steve Thomas has got you covered.
These excellent prints are available at San Diego Comic Con from Acme Archives Direct which will also be available on their website shortly after. Steve has a LOT more on his site as well so check it out!

Hey there Evil Geeks! It’s been a while since I’ve checked in, that’s because I’ve been on a rare sojourn out of the Evil Lair. Every so often, it’s good to escape the dank confines of our most vile headquarters and seek out strange new wonderments, much in the manner of Fraggle Rock’s Uncle Traveling Matt. Not every Evil Geek gets to make it out of the Lair so often, so we like to scout out locations and report back our findings in case other members of our Evil cadre find themselves in those areas in the future. This time my yearly walkabout brought me to the sunny skies of Southern California, where I found myself at Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles!
