What’s Killing My Social Life This Week – Zombicide

Hey there gamers, I know there a lot of you following the geeks. And this is Lilith’s first time writing a game review. So it’s a big day I guess. Now this game is a board game, so unlike many video games will force you to be social with at least one other person. It’s still an easy way to forget about your day to day mundane existence and for at least a couple hours transplant yourself in to a thrilling post-apocalyptic scenario.

Evil Geeks Archaeology: The Brotherhood of Evil Geeks and the Relics of Hyrule

Staff_of_Ra

Excavating relics is a tricky business. When I was a child, I wanted nothing more to be an archaeologist because of the Indiana Jones movies. It took me a long time to be convinced that it wasn’t all finding ancient artifacts and fighting Nazi’s. There’s a lot of research done in libraries and more often than not you were looking for pieces of pottery as opposed to mythic treasure.

I recently uncovered some documents in my house that I had thought were swept up by the sands of time. The documents in questions were photographs. I’m not sure when exactly they were taken, but my best carbon dating would place them around 1990. My father though he carried not a master sword was able to forge Link’s shield for me.

Evil Geek Archaeology: The Brotherhood of Evil Geeks and the Lost Treasure of Hasbro

Greetings Evil Geeks!  Recently, we’ve been doing a little digging around the Evil Lair and we’ve managed to turn up some exciting artifacts.  To say that the Evil Lair is an ancient and mysterious place would be selling short the strangeness of the ancestral home of The Brotherhood of Evil Geeks.  We actually bought the place off a group of retired Bothan spies, but those guys lived here for a REALLY long time before we got here though and they told us they got it on the cheap after there was a series of grisly Gorn murders committed in the sun room.  Countless lab “accidents”, weapon misfires, prison riots, and demon infestations, have left several stratified layers of previous civilizations beneath the floorboards.  After spending much of our formative years watching and constantly re-watching the Indiana Jones TRILOGY (because as you know, as far as C-Mart is concerned there are only three Indiana Jones movies, that’s it.  No more, only THREE!!!), we feel that we’re pretty much experts in all there is to know about archaeology: punching Nazi’s before they melt, whiskey, chilled monkey brains, and occasionally digging something out of the dirt.  On our most recent expedition to the bowels of the Evil Lair, we’ve managed to turn up some geek artifacts that we think folks will get a kick out of seeing.

Homemade TMNT Legos?

The Evil Geeks are Lego Maniacs, but our friend Lousmer is a certified Lego Psychopath. Within the hallowed walls of the Evil Geeks Lair that’s a compliment in the highest order. He recently showed us some of his homemade Lego projects and we were so impressed we wanted to share them with you. This particular batch is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles themed, the first is Casey Jones’ classic look and the second is the robot Metalhead whose design is based on the new TMNT Nickelodeon cartoon.

Some People Dream Big, The Evil Geeks Dream In Legos

Lego sets are in no short supply in the confines of the Evil Geeks Lair. After we learned about the upcoming Back To The Future Lego sets it made us think about some of the other franchises we would like to see made into Legos. A lot have already been done like Indiana Jones, Lord Of The Rings, Harry Potter, both DC and Marvel characters etc. But there’s a few the Evil Geeks are still waiting on…

Martian Luthor Kang the 117th

The hypothetical LEGO set nearest my heart would have to be Die Hard. I’ve always wanted to see a decent-sized Lego skyscraper anyway, and a miniature Hans Gruber in the boardroom would only make it that much more appealing. Imagine having a miniature John McClane jumping off that tiny roof with fire hose piece clipped between his torso and leg pieces, contacting a little trick window that gives way a few stories down… I’m imagining it so hard that I need to change the subject.

However, as far as tie-ins with more mainstream appeal, a dream combination (although staggeringly unlikely) would be a G.I. Joe Lego line. It would be so much fun to see all of the vehicles translated to brick form and with the preexisting models to work with, they’d have years worth of unique sets to release. Plus, a Lego GI Joe video game would be a blast and we might finally get another chance to play with the U.S.S. Flagg aircraft carrier base!
