Arthur’s Hammer Smashed Faces: Dethklok – The Doomstar Requiem

I slept with you all and fed you like kings, and yet you treat me like a whore…..

In the 1600’s, a man by the name of Jacopo Peri created what is credited as the first Opera. Going by the title of “Dafne,” it is supposedly a very moving and beautiful performance, and I am sure it drove many people to copious amounts of coitus, but in my personal opinion, it is lacking in certain aspects that should be commonplace in all operas. What is missing, you ask? I will tell you. Mother…..fucking…..Dethklok.

Evil Movie Review: Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog

Welcome back to all the conniving, aspiring villains out there. This week I checked out a movie just for you, and me, and all of us wannabe evil schemers out there. A movie that had just a few of my favorite things, from Joss Whedon to touching musical moments, Neil Patrick Harris to Nathan Fillion, and a bit of a mad scientist to top it all off, I had been told again and again that Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog was a movie made for me. In many ways all those co-conspirators of mine were right, so continue forward for a spoiler-laden review of this short 40 minute flick.

Lilith’s Top 5 Musical Moments

Alrighty there geeks, get ready for an epic post from Lilith here, one where you are going to get to know Lilith more personally than you’ve ever encountered before on this blog. This post is one I have been thinking about writing since I joined the band of evil geeks. That’s right my diabolical followers, I am going to go all Arthur Harkness on your asses this post and expose some of my heart to you.

Let me give you a little background first: you all know I am passionate about everything science fiction and fantasy related, especially TV shows and novels. But there is another subset of this genre that motivates me almost every day. And that is the soundtrack counterpart to many of these shows and movies. I am a lover of music in general, and I also spend a lot of time running as my favorite outdoor activity, always accompanied by my trusty iPod sidekick. Running has become another way for me to travel to another world, as my iPod is full of theme songs from Game of Thrones, Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Fringe, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and The Walking Dead to name a few. So today I am going to bring you a top 5: Lilith’s Top 5 Musical Moments of the Movies. And with this new post, I am also going to challenge all of my geek brothers. Kang, Harkness, C-Mart, Biff, Big Evil, Greekimus: you have all been challenged. Take your time my geeky brethren, but I look forward to reading about your top 5 musical movie moments. And to all my geeky subjects out there, continue on for a sliver of a glimpse in to Lilith’s musical mind.

protect your eardrums geeks!

Evil Movie Review: Oblivion

When I end up at the movie theater I get just as excited about the trailers as I do the main feature, and I get particularly stoked when a science fiction film reveals itself during the trailer portion of my experience. However, when I first saw the trailer for the 2013 sci-fi film Oblivion I was a little leery of it, mainly cause Tom Cruise played the main character, and let’s face it, he leaves us all with a lot to be leery of.

I did however hear some good reviews about flick on my favorite daytime listening program, NPR. And most of the time I can trust NPR for an honest review, so I eventually did invest in the blu-ray of this film and finally got around to watching it last night. Be forewarned, spoilers to follow.

Arthur’s Hammer Smashed Faces: Amon Amarth

amarth 1

May the call of battle never cease to bring you forward unto glory. I just made that shit up guys, off the fly and it may be your new morning mantra. Welcome back everyone to the second edition of the newest way to smash in your own face. I, as always, am Arthur Harkness and I am proud to bring to you another moment in my never ending war against the radio proper. Most people know that I simply cannot handle what the radio tends to throw at us on a daily basis, which is the same four to five songs on the hour every hour. It honestly makes me want to cut out my own eyes and jam spikes into my ears. I know that may sound a bit harsh, but honestly, I cannot think of any other solution besides not listening to it at all, which is even more difficult considering it permeates most of life nowadays. It just drives me crazy that most things that are out there nowadays is hot water trash produced by garbage people. Sorry if that offends you, but its true. I can deal with classic rock, but why do we have to play Freedbird a hundred times a day?

There is a bevy of different bands out there and we stick to the same few over and over. It’s rather unfortunate. So it is my new civic duty and my way to give back to the community by attempting to bring some new stuff to your ears. I did it last week with Battlecross, and although these guys have been around for a while, I would like to give them a more proper introduction. Shield Maidens and Vikings, I give to you one of my all time favorites, Amon Amarth, and the reason why I do not fear driving in wintry conditions anymore…..for the most part. Now obviously you guys know already that this is going to involve my metalro life mate in Piano Wire Freddy, so you better get used to the mention of him as I do not go to metal shows without him, and considering our greatest metal adventure involved Amon Amarth and a blizzard, it would be in poor form not to include him. So let’s do this…
