This has been a great year for the Harry Potter Universe. While J.K Rowling has said she is “done” with the actual stories about Potter, she has delved in to the world of playwright and screenwriter to experiment in her wonderful world of witches and wizards. The hype surrounding Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has been building for almost two years now. This story features Eddie Redmayne playing Newt Scamander, the famous author of the textbook by the same name as the title. Those of us true Harry Potter fans already read Rowling’s version of the text book when it came out in paperback way back when, but now there’s a whole story to surround the making of aid textbook. This week I dove back in to the Potterverse head first, and here’s my spoiler filled review of them movie.
Doctor Strange has hit theaters, introducing us all to the next Infinity gem: the Time Gem. Locked inside the Eye of Agamotto, the time Gem allows Strange to defeat the entity Dormammu by trapping him in a Groundhog Day style time loop. Last Thursday night I went to see Suicide Squad (SS). All in all, I liked the film. It passed my all important “How many times did I look at my watch” test with a score of 0. It was fun to watch and most of the characters were interesting. SPOILER ALERT! Although I will try to avoid too many spoilers, there is a chance there could be some minor ones.
Last Thursday night, I went with my daughter and some friends to see the new Ghostbusters. I am a die hard fan of the original Ghostbusters (GB84). When I first heard that a new movie was being made, I was skeptical. “How are they going to do this without Harold Ramis?” Then came the announcement that they were using an all female cast (an announcement that I believe was a mistake, but more on that later) and that the movie was a reboot as opposed to a sequel or spin off. Again, my pessimism took root; this was going to be a terrible movie.
Hello again mutant lovers, Lilith here with your latest X-Men movie review. I have to admit, I’ve been a little surprised about the lack of hype and advertisement coming up to this movie’s release. I saw it in the theaters this week, and here’s my review just for you!
