Hey Evil Geeks of all ages! We just wanted to let you know about an upcoming, local convention that we will be attending, and you should too!
If you’re a fan of anime or Japanese culture, consider checking out ToraCon. Conveniently located at Rochester’s RIT campus on March 21-22, 2020, ToraCon is an all ages event that’s fun for everyone.
Registration is online only, and it closes on 2/23/2020, so we hope that if you don’t already have your tickets, that you buy them soon so we can see you there! You can register and find out more information on the event by visiting Toracon.org. We can’t wait to make our return to this fabulous event, so don’t delay and register ASAP!
MAGFest is a music and gaming convention that took place the first weekend of 2020. I went to it almost blind; I had heard a lot from friends about it, and their thoughts ranged from, “it’s a cult, join us” to “it smells so bad, you’re going to die.” These responses are both so visceral because when MAG starts on Thursday, it doesn’t close until Sunday afternoon. There are panels at all hours, and they are all over the place. So before we get into it too much, know that while I had an incredible time, it is a lot.
Convention season is upon us, my friends, and as the weather gets nicer here in the Capital Region, you may be looking for some fun events to attend or places to wear your cosplays. Well, look no further! Next weekend, April 27-28th is the Spring Saratoga Comic Con.
That’s right!! This weekend at the San Jose Convention Center the North Bay will be getting an amazing Stan Lee run Comic Con, probably the biggest event here in years for us geeks. Lilith will be hitting the floor on Saturday and hopes to get a boat load of amazing cosplay photos to share on our site, and enjoying the amazing line up this event has to offer.
Without further ado, here are some snaps from Campbell Con, the premiere event! It was quaint, cute, and a great place for community building. I’ve only been to a few cons so far, and this was a smaller one, but it had a lot more sense of community and camaraderie than the larger cons. It was also a great way to meet like minded creative people in the geek world. Hopefully they have another event next year!
Looking for something to do this Sunday? Come out to Infinity Con at the Six Flags Great Escape Lodge in Queensbury, NY. Fun for the whole family, a bevy of guests including baseball legend Pete Rose and Comic Book Men’s Ming Chen, the original Michelangelo from the 1990 TMNT movie and even the Jurassic Park jeep. They’ll also be tons of vendors and artists and if that’s not enough you can come say hi to the Evil Geeks, we’ll be running contests, selling art prints and and giving away prizes. Doors open at 11AM, we’ll see you there!
