Comic Book Panel of the Day 5/22/15

Afternoon Geeks!

Today’s Panel of the Day comes from Justice League #38 from Geoff Johns & Jason Fabok and it’s pretty cool. I’m on my summer break so with that brings a ton of reading for me to catch up on all things going on and I have to say that I’m really impressed with Mr. Fabok’s work on the series. This arc is called The Amazo Virus, which was created by Lex Luthor and mistakenly released on the world. The virus effects both humans and metahumans and as you can see here turns them into somewhat hive-mind zombies.

This panel just stuck out to me in the arc, Batman’s gestures are almost puppet-like but the visuals on his face and everyone around are zombie-like. Imagine mind-controlled walkers! Here, check it out:

Justice League 38

This is only the 2nd arc that I’ve caught up on so far, but the Amazo Virus is a pretty cool read with some amazing visuals…Check it out!

Super Cafe: It’s On!

Whats Up Nerds!

batman-v-superman-17
Over the past few days there have been some big Hollywood reveals including the super-amazing-incredible Star Wars Episode VII trailer and even Jurassic World. But alas, Warner Bros. had big plans of their own to unveil the Dawn of Justice trailer in a special IMAX screen just this past Monday, but then someone caught it on their cellphone and uploaded a crappy video online and BAM! the leak happened and the nerd world had a collective mehhhhhhhhh to it.

So, was the Batman vs Superman trailer really all that bad? No, not entirely. But it wasn’t good…especially when we all saw Han and Chewy and heard Luke narrating that trailer just hours before. Not gonna lie, I was having a HORRIBLE day up to that point and that completely changed it and I was grinning from ear to ear and talking about it to my wife for the rest of the night. Because I, like you I’d imagine, love Star Wars and also because it was awesome! Anyhow, after the leak Warners had to go ahead and throw their trailer online just like Marvel did with Age of Ultron after it was leaked back in the Fall of 2014. Dawn of Justice has a gritty and ominous feeling to it that one wouldn’t expect from Superman, but honestly it feels kind of right to me based on Man of Steel. Anyways the folks over at How it Should Have Ended have given us a pretty funny interaction between the caped crusader and everyones favorite boy scout about movie trailers that totally made me chuckle. Check it out…

End of day, I’m a big DC fan so I think that Dawn of Justice will be good and my many Marvel Fanboy Friends (cough, cough, C-Mart) simply will not until we see what happens. Still though, they could’ve given us DC Fanboys a little bit more to work with here!

The Only Rule about Fight Club…

Hey Nerds!
flash & arrow
Been a long time, but Big Evil’s back with a pretty awesome video courtesy of the CW. With all the Marvel news lately; DD, Avengers, Ant Man, the folks at the CW didn’t want you to forget about their awesome DC properties Flash and Arrow. With that, they’ve put together a fun little “Fight Club” that pits our favorite heroes versus their nemeses. It’s completely out of context, but shows that the CW isn’t afraid to have fun with their shows, check it out…

Not bad, right? Well imagine if they took this concept and did something with it a la Roulette; who is a pretty cool DC villain, usually associated with the Justice Society, but also has a history with Ollie in other TV interpretations of him on both Justice League Unlimited and Smallville. Although probably just a fun one off, it’d be cool to see something like this on Arrow where there is some sort of deathmatch!

Alas, no Slade Wilson or Ray Palmer…guess they were busy.

Anyway, make sure that you watch the last 5 episodes of the season where Ollie has to deal with Ra’s and Barry dukes it out with the Reverse Flash!

‘Til next time nerds!

Marvel goes retro with Phil Noto Variants

Morning Geeks!
A couple days ago Biff Tannen posted an awesome cover of Black Window by superstar artist Phil Noto. I’ve always been a fan of Noto’s and really like long and lean features that he gives to his characters, it kind of reminds me of high-fashion illustrations. Anyway, it got me remembering that Marvel announced at NYCC this year that Noto would be providing a slew of retro-looking variant covers designed by Noto himself for February and this week we’ve been privy to a whole bunch of them. Check these babies out and sound off in the comments with your thoughts!
