Thats’s right Evil Geeks, just this afternoon via star Disney and Lucasfilm announced the cast of Star Wars Episode VII!

Here’s the full announcement:

The Star Wars team is thrilled to announce the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII.
Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film.
Director J.J. Abrams says, “We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud.”
Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer. The movie opens worldwide on December 18, 2015.

It’s been hinted at for months (even here) that Mark Hammill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford would strap in for another adventure with longtime castmates Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca,) Kenny Baker (R2-D2,) and Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) but now it’s official and rumors on the web earlier this morning even say that Han plays a big role in the movie, which in my opinion would be very cool. Newcomers to the Star Wars mythos include Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow along with newcomers John Boyega and Daisy Ridley!

With a December 18, 2015 release date we are a mere year and a half away from a new Star Wars and I for one cannot wait! I do have to ask myself though whether that date is manageable given the fact that these movies tend to have strenuous shooting schedules and a ton of post production. One would think that they’d push it to the summer so it’s a Blockbuster-popcorn movie, but maybe they didn’t because it could interfere with their Marvel plans. Either way, good job Disney and Lucasfilm.
