Panel(s) of the Day 3/7/13

Today’s featured panel comes from All-Star Superman #12. If you haven’t read this book by now, you deserve a bit of a spoiler… don’t worry, though. It’s nothing too earth-shattering.  At the end of issue 11, a temporarily super powered Lex Luthor shows up at the Daily Planet in the heart of metropolis and threatens the staff. Mild-mannered Clark Kent steps up to defend his colleagues, and while the staff of the Planet all assume that Superman was impersonating Clark Kent, a funny little idea crosses Luthor’s mind…

I love that this idea finally dawns on Luthor in the middle of what, unbeknownst to him, will be his last battle with Superman.  The middle panel is the star, here.  Luthor’s face and posture as he gets a taste playing the fool is priceless, and the Mack truck he’s effortlessly repelling just makes it that much more powerful.
